So WHY book with Highland Nature

Local Guide :

John has lived and guided extensively in the Highlands and Islands for over 25 years, a very active local birder and contributor to the local birding network as well as previously working for the RSPB as an assistant warden on a Scottish
Reserve.
There are now many tour companies visiting the area, however with guides who perhaps see the area just once a year, and even local tour companies are now using some guides who visit just for that tour. Connection with the local community and its environs plays an important role in being able to interpret this to visitors as well as knowing where the wildlife is, in an ever changing landscape.

Group Size

We only cater for small groups, usually four but up to six max on high demand tours. No minubus convoys and 10+ crowds, far better for personal attention as well as watching wildlife. We also specialise in bespoke tours specifically tailored to your requests. There is however plenty of opportunity to meet with other birders in the evenings who may be staying at the Grant Arms individually or on other tours.

Accommodation

We exclusively use the well known Grant Arms Wildlife Hotel complete with its Birdwatching Club (BWWC). Many rooms have been recently renovated as well as a very high standard in fine food from their expert Head Chef. They look after you from the minute you walk in the door, all staff very experienced in dealing with wildlife tours and their guests, they also run some tours themselves with a group of professional guides! We don't think you could find better accommodation for a Wildlife Tour base in the Highlands. It's also situated within the charming Victorian town of Grantown on Spey, with easy access to many shops, and beautiful forest habitat right on your doorstep.

Driving Safety

We cover a lot of miles, often on single track and poor weather conditions. John is fully PSV trained and licenced, with over 30 years experience of driving on Highland roads in all seasons. We also operate with full Private Hire insurance.
